"Diana and I were one of the two couples who stayed with Ralph and Stuart over the weekend. I think it
would
be fair to say that over the years we have been fortunate enough to stay in some pretty amazing places and
experienced
some great hotels. This experience ranks right up there with the best. Although we are their friends
we all tried to treat this as a ‘dry run’ and as though we were just guests who had chosen the stay as would
anyone
else.
Right from the start everything was smooth and Ralph and Stuart were very helpful, sending one of our number a
map
of suggested walks. When we all arrived the welcome was friendly and helpful. After our journey a
welcome
drink was much appreciated and was enjoyed sitting in front of the large wood-burner in the Reading Room.
From that point on the weekend continued in the same vein. Our hosts could not have been more efficient and
attentive
without being too obtrusive. The food was quite delicious and varied and the choice of wines accomplished.
(There was plenty of both!) Our rooms had some great little touches like the luxury chocolate found – not on the
pillow – but beside the bed in its own little designer box. There was a large screen TV with French and British
programming
available. The copious towels were white and ‘fluffy’ with matching dressing gowns. Nights were uninterrupted by
noise because the house is set in deeply rural countryside. In the grounds are walks through their own forest
where
a glimpse of wild boar is a very real possibility. The large and beautiful lake is set in a valley lined with
rhododendrons
and is available for fishing for those into that particular hobby. This weekend break has the style of a
traditional
country house weekend. Relaxation is the name of the game and simply let your hosts take care of you. All in all
we have no hesitation in commending ‘La Cour de Verger’ as a luxurious and sumptuous destination."

"Our two night stay at La Cour du Verger was the most wonderful experience, luxurious and immensely relaxing.
You were
both magnificent hosts and made us very welcome into your beautiful and inspiring manor house. Your house is
full
of atmosphere and delightful detail that brings together the the manoir’s fascinating architectural history with
modern day amenities and comfort. The ambience was warm and friendly and we enjoyed sitting curled up in front
of
the fire leafing through the interesting range of art and historical books on the coffee table. The food was
both
exquisite and delicious, which we enjoyed in the stately surrounds of the dining room. For two dull days in
February
we were transported to a rural idyll and loved the ability to step out of the front door into the woodlands and
enjoy
the challenge of a short walk around the lake and woods as well as a longer walk through the rolling
agricultural
countryside of Roussac. We hope to return in the summer months to enjoy the inspiring surrounds of the walled
garden
and more of the produce from the kitchen garden."
